Information Regarding Target Data Breach
As you are likely aware, Target announced on December 19 that approximately 40 million debit/credit cards used at their US stores between November 27, 2013 and December 15, 2013 were compromised, meaning card information, including customer name, credit or debit card number, and the card’s expiration date and CVV.
Premier Bank received our first “impacted card list” on Thursday, December 19, 2013. We received a second “impacted card list” later in the day on Thursday, December 19, 2013. We immediately began contacting all cardholders in an effort to shut the card off as quickly as possible and reissue you a new card. We were successful in reaching out to nearly all names we were provided from our debit card processor. Some individuals were not home and we were forced to leave messages. We will follow up with those individuals today, December 20, 2013.
While some institutions have opted to do a “mass shut down” of impacted cards, Premier Bank does not believe that is in your best interest due to the timing of this event. We in no way want to strand a client in an airport or along an Interstate who may be depending on their debit card to get where they are headed for the holidays. We will continue to take all reasonable steps to personally make contact before we turn off the card and re-issue you a new card.
As always, we strongly encourage you to monitor your monthly account statements. Should you see an unauthorized charge, please contact us and the bank right away and we can dispute the charge and get you proper credit back to your account.
Your security is always our top priority. Be assured staff will be working diligently to ensure cards that may have been impacted are shut down and new cards ordered in a timely manner. While we unfortunately had no control over this card breach, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience these types of events cause.
If you have questions regarding your card, please feel free to contact Premier Bank operations department at 563-588-1000.
